ESPN+ acquires Serie A rights in US in multi-year deal

ESPN and ESPN+ have reached an exclusive, multi-year rights agreement in the United States for Italy’s Serie A. The agreement will bring more than 340 matches per season to ESPN+, the new multi-sport, direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service from The Walt Disney Company Direct-to-Consumer & International (DTCI) segment and ESPN.

Starting this month, ESPN+ will carry an average of nine matches live each week from August through May, while ESPN networks will televise a Serie A Match of the Week — close to 40 matches per season. Most telecasts will air on ESPN and ESPN2, and the Match of the Week will also be available in Spanish on ESPN Deportes. The 20-team Serie A is home to some of global football’s most recognizable and storied clubs, including Juventus FC, AC Milan, AS Roma, FC Inter Milan and more.

Coverage of Serie A TIM will also feature year-round news and highlights content across ESPN platforms. Additionally, ESPN+ will exclusively feature one-hour season preview and review programs, a weekly preview and highlight shows and a Serie A goals of the week program.

Coverage of the 2018-19 Serie A season will begin Saturday, August 18, with the league’s opening match, Chievo Verona vs. Juventus, airing on ESPN+ (12 p.m. ET). Five-time Ballon d’Or Award winner Cristiano Ronaldo, will make his league debut for Juventus, winners of seven straight Serie A TIM titles. Before joining the club in July, Ronaldo scored a record 450 goals in 438 games in nine seasons with Spain’s Real Madrid, leading the club to four UEFA Champions League titles. His move to Juventus is considered one of the most impactful transfers in international soccer.
 
In sintesi, 9 match su 10 ogni giornata in streaming su ESPN + mentre circa 40 partite a stagione andranno sui canali lineari ESPN o ESPN 2 :)

Senza ombra di dubbio. Visti gli orari mattutini e pomeridiani mi aspettavo però più considerazione sui canali lineari, però c’è da dire che è stato fatto un discreto upgrade, Bein Sports in America ha poca penetrazione. Ci rimetteranno però i moltissimi locali pubblici, lo streaming non penso sia commerciabile, un po’ come Dazn. Dovranno prendersi l’opzione di Rai Italia sempre che ci sia ancora ma penso di sì
 
Per mia curiosità sono andato subito a vedere e per le prime due giornate in tv
faranno vedere

Sicuramente più visibilità per il calcio italiano dopo che beinsports è stata mollata da Fios e da Verizon
 
E' possibile sapere quanto spendono i cittadini americani per ESPN & c. per vedere tutta la Serie A? Tipo 50 dollari al mese per farsi un'idea... :icon_redface:

ESPN è su ogni tipo di provider e ogni provider ha la sua cifra. Difficile stabilire un prezzo preciso. Di solito i canali ESPN sono nei pacchi economici e di base quindi la cifra è anche contenuta.
Ora come ora non ho ben presente come sia il servizio di ESPN + e se è a pagamento per tutti, cioè anche agli abbonati ai vari provider, contrariamente a Watch ESPN, una sorta di Eurosport Player, che è incluso nell’abbonamento
 
Non mi resta che partire per l'America (è sempre stato il mio sogno) e scoprire quanto spenderei il minimo per vedere tutta la Serie A. :icon_bounce:
