Astra 1D @ 31E

Hello,

Finally Astra 1D has arrived at 31E and nobody seems to know what's his mission there. Surprisingly 2 frequencies have been activated and showing a Türksat Promo: http://www.lyngsat.com/astra1d.html. A 1.50m Gibertini in Germany doesn't show any sign of signal so we suppose it must be on a Turkey beam.

Anybody in Italia getting these ?


The elder DXers remember there was a Türksat 1B at 31.3E many years ago. Eurobird 3 at 33E looks to be the new turkish position, no problem to install multifeed 33E/42E systems. I don't remember where but i read that Turkish Telecom and SES seem to cooperate, so it might be that 31E will become another position. If the signal inside Turkey is so strong as at 33E, a 32E(for 31E-33E)/42E multifeed dish could get all 3 positions with 2 LNBs. And here we have another problem: Arabsat 5A at 30.5E starting in 2009. There is a fear of interference at least in the most eastern Mediterranean. Maybe some frequencies won't be used. Indeed Arabsat, SES and Eutelsat will have to coordinate their frequencies strictly otherwise chaos will be present.

Nobody ? Well at least from Greece the results are positive as 2 people from Athens and Chania report here: http://www.sdtv.gr/smf/index.php?topic=5960. The signal is super strong on their 1.10m.

No signal for me in both frequencies.
The satellite has a little inclination (0.178°).

Maybe somebody more to the East can check as well ?

The latest report in the greek forum is from Syros with a Gibertini OP150, a Smart 0.2 and a Nokia 9902 Videoguard Receiver that gets both frequencies not only at about 20dB S/N and more - by the way stronger than 13E and 39E - but this satellite burns down with so much power that it even can be received very easily when the dish is positioned at 30.5E. But Astra 1D is known to fall rapidly at its edges. We could see that at 19.2E and at 23.5E so most probably also from 31E this should be also the case.

In NE Germany, to be more precise in Brandenburg a 1.80m catches the 11494H.

So it is likely that major parts of Italia gets also signal.

entrambi i transponder 11464H e 11494 H di Astra 1d hanno un segnale forte (in particolare 11494 H), dei transponder verticali nessuna traccia.

Thanks for the information korchm48. Either the V's aren't active anymore or the signal is very low at your location. I set the question in the german and greek board. Maybe latter can confirm that the carriers are empty right now.

Astra1d:
Stasera si riceve 11494H con un segnale abbastanza forte (7.5db)
ma non si riceve 11464H il segnale essende debole (4.5dB).
Astra1d non e' in'orbita inclinata. L'ho potuto verificare avendo il doppio motore. L'antenna e' 3.35 m Prodelin.

Per quanto riguarda 62E, 10972V era per molto tempo il transponder piu' forte, ricezione 24/7 con 6.5 - 7.5 dB. Ultimamente, si sta verificando una diminuzione dell'intensita', per qualche ora durante il pomeriggio, con la conseguente perdita' del segnale. Per contro, 11555V e' diventato piu' forte.
Tuttavia, stasera di nuovo i ruoli si sono invertiti.
