BBC (28E) - specifically in or around Parma?

I just tried putting those 2 sliders together. Guess what: if you do put them together you can not use the central position, as the bit on which LNB sits can't go to the centre. I.e. where those two sliders meet - it is not usable...

So, I can only use 1 slider - how big a span is that? 8 degrees or maybe 10? Damn, if that's the case! I needed it to go to 39, from 28 as the central position. So, 11 degrees to East and 12 degrees West (to 16E). That was the plan... And the seller said nothing, just sold me two sliders and implied it can be done... ochhhhhhhhhhhhh........

More headaches... I need a way to extend it, if it doesn't go far enough... I have it (from using T90 in the extreme positions) but...

Route for me... When the installers choose to come back, that is... Promises mean nothing here, it seems... :(

Sick as a dog but I may have cracked it, with the stuff I have at hand, we'll see when the installers come back... (Have a look, please, tell me what you think... ;) )

It's not centred but one place to the right, so I have more space for going West (12 degrees needed) and less going east (11 degrees needed) - but it seems ample space...

However, the angles will have to be fine tuned, the sliders slightly bent, I think...

They have to be bent upwards on the sides anyhow...

Route for me... :)

Here are some examples of "normal" (single reflector) dishes with multiple LNBs, thanx to Njezic...

I think it's a good reference point, so we shall have to take this into account when setting up my 6 LNB combo...

Mind, all those dishes are smaller than mine, so this is just a general guideline...

The installer got scared and none of this is being done, now.

Luckily, at least 28E was done. I have all the BBC, ITV and Ch4 and 5 stuff, at all times, signal drops some 10-12% but it is still sufficient to be seen without dropping frames or pixilation etc. Not sure now, with all the snow, I am ill and can't try to clean the LNB and check, sadly...

But not the multiLNB thing...

Very sad... He thinks that laws of Physics differ for Italians, just so he doesn't have to acknowledge that he doesn't have the balls, doesn't have the skills, doesn't want to learn (even though I would be paying him to learn, on my time, as it were - really silly!!!!)... Such intransigence, fear and laziness, spiritual laziness in particular, that is...

So, I would have to do it myself, without a proper instrument, FFS...

Anyone in and around Parma, with a good quality instrument, who wouldn't mind doing a new thing, who would actually be excited to do something new, please? Weather permitting, of course! We do it together... I cook and make big Rum&Cokes... gorski-style and size! :D

Cheers!

Goggysan, to give you some suggestion by those pictures is not simple.
Maybe you don't need an installer but a blacksmith.
Give him the slider and if you can also the arm, or bring him to your top, and for sure he will know how to help you.

This is a good system, as one doesn't need to bend the sliders by hand... ;)

And this, too: ***************************** - but too short for my needs...

But since I have mine already I'll try to do that by hand, since I must... one day... I guess... Hope dies last! :)

And I might need somebody with a drill and skill to do those 2 holes on the LNB arm safely and well enough, to secure the multiple LNB holder...

Hi goggysan !
I didn't really read the full thread, I just skimmed through it, however, I just read your last posts, with the pictures, and I can see the 28.2E on the far right, are you sure about that ? Because signal and footprint for that satellite are really bad, even when pointing it directly, and you even stress that it's the satellite you want to be able to receive, right ?

You can try to substitute the main bracket with an arc-shaped and longer one.

Sorry, guys, you misunderstood completely.

BBC etc. (28E) is in the centre in any combination.

I have the main bracket "substituted with an original Gibertini arc-shaped multiple LNB slider" (actually, I bought 2 of those sets).

But the problem is how to connect it with the dish - the adapter that goes on or inside the LNB arm is not suitable for the dish and hence problems... I would need to drill holes in the LNB arm, for it to work... etc. etc.

I hope that clears up the misunderstanding... ;) What would help even more would be to actually see the photos I posted... :)

New holes in the arm, or a new holder, or a new arm, there's no other possible solution.
If you don't know how to do it, you can call a blacksmith.

Indeed, those are the options.

The problem with drilling into the arm is - hight... Can't take down the dish, so precarious, as just the right amount of pressure has to be put to work. And I have no drill bit or battery operated drill, so I better ask somebody with tools and experience, indeed...

New adapter, smaller, so it fits the arm? I don't know. since this is allegedly supposed to fit Gibertini dish, as this is the original Gibertini multiple LNB holder kit...

Achhhhhhhh, such a palaver, when it was supposed to just "fit" and then some twisting the slider upwards, towards the ends...

But oh, noooo... Such is my "fortuna"... :(

IMHO, the simplest and safest thing to do, is to drill new holes in the holder you already set for the single LNB, without moving the arm, so you can mount the Gibertini slider too on it.
Give it to a blacksmith, with also the slider and holder by Gibertini, and pictures and designs about the other pieces, and he for sure will know how to do.

That would be best, I think, too...

But how? If at all possible, that is...

It seems the adapter would have to go inside the LNB arm and use the same sideways screw the main/central LNB bracket/holder is using...

A tall order...

Maybe you don't need to use both the holders, but you can ask the blacksmith to fuse a part of the Gibertini one onto the one you already set, but without having the pieces in my hands I cannot tell more than what I told you until now. Good luck!
