Info su differenze tra 2 video

Ciao a tutti.
Perdonatemi se scrivo castronerie, ma non sono molto pratico...
Il mio problema: possiedo un lettore multimediale Western Digital TV Live. Finora non mi aveva mai dato problemi con nessun tipo di file, ma l'altro giorno ho provato a riprodurre un filmato in HD e mi ha detto che non era supportato.
Riesco tranquillamente a riprodurre il filmato sul mio PC tramite VLC, quindi il file non è danneggiato.
Quello che vorrei sapere da qualcuno più esperto di me è se è possibile capire che differenze ci sono tra questo filmato (che ha estensione .mkv) e gli altri files .mkv che ho letto finora e se è possibile, eventualmente, modificare qualche parametro per riuscire a renderlo compatibile col mio lettore multimediale.

Queste sono le info relative al filmato che non riesco a riprodurre (tratte da VLC):

A parte la risoluzione, non vedo altre differenze. Magari occorre utilizzare altri strumenti per entrare più nel dettaglio...

...è un po' pochino quello che hai postato. Ti serve un tool più completo, tra i più usati c'è MediaInfo Lite.

Possono essere molteplici le ragioni per cui un mkv si legge su PC e non su WD TV Live: spesso è la presenza del
"header removal compression", che si può rimuovere senza ricodificare ad es. con mkvmerge(GUI). Altre cause:

ma ci possono essere anche altre ragioni: Profilo non supportato (fino a "High@L4.1" non ci dovrebbero essere problemi), audio non supportato... etc.

Nel frattempo ho fatto altre prove. ed il WD non sembra riconoscere il tipo di codifica del filmato. Per quelli che funzionano mi dice "H264", per quello che non funziona mi dice "unknown".
Comunque ho già provato ad usare proprio MediaInfo, ma non sono abbastanza pratico da comprendere le differenze...

È il penultimo modello, ne è appena uscita una nuova versione.
Aggiornato ieri all'ultima versione di firmware.
