L'ho usato per tantissimo tempo prima dell'era iTunes... leggero, veloce, funzionale, creava già le playlist all'epoca. Ora da tempo l'ho abbandonato. RIP.

Lo uso ancora adesso su win vista Home premium .. visto che non ho l'ultima versione mi scarichero' l'installer della versione free dell' ultima versione.. la 5.66 .

Lo uso da più di 5 anni, fin da quando scoprii che questo programma era, con la skin classica, il più leggero e reattivo lettore multimediale, quello che girava meglio sul vecchio macinino col Pentium III e Windows 2000. L' ho usato anche per ascoltare una radio canadese in streaming senza dover usare il più pesante RadioSure.
Senza dubbio il miglior lettore multimediale di sempre.
E non ho intenzione di usarne altri, a parte Media Player Classic per i video.

Winamp è destinato a sparire per sempre, ma c'è ancora una flebile speranza che sopravviva. Secondo Ingrid Lunden di TechCrunch infatti la società proprietaria AOL sarebbe in trattativa per vendere il popolare software a Microsoft, insieme al servizio di radio online Shoutcast.

Secondo me è meglio se rilasciano il codice sorgente del programma.
Comunque vedremo cosa succederà.
Intanto ho scaricato tutti i plugin e sto scaricando tutte le skin.

SHOUTcast sopravviverà alla chiusura del sito.
Il principale sviluppatore del programma ha detto che l'avviso riguarda solo Winamp.com e i suoi servizi associati.

AOL Finalizing Talks To Sell Winamp And Shoutcast, No Shutdown Expected On Dec. 20
AOL is finalizing negotiations to sell off Winamp and Shoutcast in a deal that would allow both products to live on, according to a source with knowledge of the discussions.
The company (which owns TechCrunch) announced last month that as of December 20, Winamp web services would shut down and that the desktop version of the video and music player would no longer be available for download.
Shortly afterward, TechCrunch’s Ingrid Lunden reported that Microsoft was in talks to buy both Winamp and Shoutcast, another media streaming service that AOL owns through its acquisition of Nullsoft way back in 1999.
My source did not identify the potential buyer, but they said the deal was close enough that they’re “confident” that an agreement will be reached. Also, they said they don’t believe the previously announced shutdown would happen on Dec. 20 — while these negotiations are progressing, I’m guessing it’s in the interest of both parties to keep the services up and running.
An AOL spokesperson declined to comment for this story.
As we noted in our previous coverage, the products haven’t entirely languished under AOL — for example, Winamp Sync for Mac launched two years ago — but it hasn’t exactly seemed like a big priority. Nonetheless, Winamp in particular has a certain nostalgic appeal for people of the right age (i.e., me) and someone (Microsoft?) thinks there’s still some value here.

They are not being bought by Microsoft, as we had heard when we first reported news of a sale. The properties are instead being acquired by Radionomy — an international aggregator of online radio stations headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.
The Radionomy connection was first noticed by a Carsten Knobloch who saw that Winamp’s nameservers, but not Shoutcast’s, had been transferred to Radionomy. We have since learned from a reliable source that the deal is for both properties and should be finalised by Friday, if not sooner.
Radionomy has some 6,000 stations in its catalog already, with an emphasis on a do-it-yourself platform that anyone can use to create a channel. Shoutcast’s 50,000-strong catalog of radio stations will be a major boost on that front. Winamp’s media playing software could be used to help program those radio stations and offer additional services.
The acquisition may also see the two products and platforms put to work in more commercial settings. One of Radionomy’s strategic investors is MusicMatic, which develops audio and video experiences for stores and other venues."

Idem! Sui vecchi(ssimi) PC con Winamp stutterava anche un MP3... sempre usato CoolPlayer (dal look simile) al posto suo.
