http://www.redrok.com/actuator.htm
There is, of course, a difference between the maximum stroke that the actuator can do, and the maximum stroke that the mount setup will allow.
The maximum actuator stroke that a mount setup will allow, for the theoretical maximum of 0-180 degrees rotation, is twice the lever length, or twice the lever offset, whichever of those is the smallest.
(All in theory, while theoretically assuming actuator offset is zero. In reality, there are practical boundaries, such as the dimensions of the rotation axis, and of the bolts, etc., which must be given consideration. So the theoretical range of 0-180 is not possible, in practice.)
For the terminology, see the picture "Linear to Rotary Mathematical Concepts" at this website:

Apart from choosing actuator length, I think choosing the ratio lever-length / lever-offset is very important (thus determining where in the 0-180 degree range you get the maximum number of counts per rotational degree),
and also choosing the satellite arc position for the 'fully retracted' actuator (thus determining where the 0-180 degree rotation range starts (or, more realistically maybe, where something like the 25-155 degree range starts)).
The "theory" around designing the setup
(fot) for a polar mount with actuator is more interesting than I thought!

Edit: corrected "fot" to "for".
