Celebration of St. Vlaho, the patron saint of the Diocese of Dubrovnik and the city of Dubrovnik, this year marks a great jubilee - 1050 years of protection of the Dubrovnik Parc. According to legend, in 971 St. Blaise inspired the priest Stojko to warn the city fathers of the Venetians' intentions to attack Dubrovnik. Since then, this saint, replacing the previous patrons, became not only the protector of the city and (arch) diocese, but in later centuries he became a state saint of the Republic of Dubrovnik, which spreads and maintains his worship throughout its territory. Sv. For many centuries, Vlaho permeated and united all of Dubrovnik's public and private life. Opening of the Feast of St. Vlaho will be at Kandelor (Candlestick), February 2, in front of the Congregational Church of St. Vlaho at 3:30 p.m. Then the ancient Laus will be read, the girls of the market will bring traditional gifts, the saint's flag will be raised and doves will be released with the anthem. The central solemn Eucharistic celebration broadcast by HTV will be in front of the Cathedral of Our Lady the Great, and this year the leader is Cardinal Blase Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago. This is the first festival hosted by the newly ordained Bishop of Dubrovnik, Msgr. Roko Glasnović. This year's festival was attended by Teo Grbić from the ranks of seafarers and Toni Cvjetković from the ranks of craftsmen.
