Rinsdorf viaduct is blown up

With a length of 485 meters and a height of more than 70 meters, the Rinsdorf viaduct is one of the major bridges on Autobahn 45. The structure south of the city of Siegen is dilapidated after 50 years and has been closed to heavy trucks for some time. A new bridge was built right next to it in just over three years using the latest technology.
The demolition of the old Rinsdorfer bridge is a premiere and a great challenge: never before has such a large motorway bridge been demolished in Germany. So that the new building next door is not damaged, the old bridge has to fall exactly into the valley.
