Harmonic announces that SKY Italia has deployed Harmonic’s market-leading compression and IP-based statistical multiplexing solutions for its direct broadcast satellite service. Serving 4.5 million subscribers, SKY Italia is Italy’s leading payTV operator and the fifth largest satellite provider worldwide. The new headend architecture encompasses Harmonic’s industry-leading DiviCom Electra 1000 standard definition MPEG-2 encoders, the ProStream stream processing platform with DiviTrackIP distributed statistical multiplexing, and NMX Digital Service Manager.

Harmonic’s high performance compression solutions are deployed by seven of the ten largest satellite providers around the globe, reaching nearly 50 million subscribers. As demand for video, particularly HD, continues to grow, operators such as SKY Italia need to implement more bandwidth-efficient compression technology to reduce bit-rates and improve video quality.

Harmonic’s market-leading compression portfolio also includes the Electra 7000 HD and Electra 5400 SD MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) encoders, and the Ion multi-channel SD MPEG-2 and AVC encoders. These IP-based encoders deliver up to four channels in one rack unit, offering operators a dense, high performance solution that significantly reduces energy consumption.

Harmonic has led the way in pioneering the all-IP architecture, and introduced the world’s first IP-based statistical multiplexing solution, DiviTrackIP, in 2005. This innovative solution gives operators more flexibility in their video networks, while lowering capital and operational expenses, by eliminating the need for encoders to be physically co-located.

Comunque, al di là di ogni dubbio, direi che ci siamo.

Telefonato sky propio ora,l'operatore mi a riferito che non c'è nessuna consegna del mysky hd,perchè presentano ancora dei bug.
 
Ritelefonato a sky,my sky hd prenotato,49 euro di attivazione,senza canonone aggiutivo mensile,ma solo per gli abbonati a my sky sd sky hd

L'operatore ti ha detto una cacata, in quanto 20 minuti dopo la mia prenotazione al call center mi ha richiamato Sky dicendomi che domattina viene il tecnico per l'installazione...

Per caso si sa quali altri provider utilizzano questa "Harmonic"?
almeno ci si può rendere conto di come sono messi.

Sono sicuro che tu non ti sia tritato e fumato qualche chip, quindi interpreto questa "canzone" come una data abbastanza significativa per le nostre bramosìe di HD di qualità.....

Entrambe abbiamo cambiato alcuni piani strategici, ci stiamo allontanando dal nostro core business (la pay-tv satellitare) ma manteniamo comunque il nostro spirito e la nostra personalità (offerte IPTV, Videofonino e portali Internet magari). Ma non ci siamo scordati di com'era lavorare l'uno al fianco dell'altra (But not so far that we've forgotten how it was before)

Mediaset, ti ricordi come danzavamo appassionatamente insieme un tempo? Due amanti che giocavano con il proprio amore reciproco... ma le mattine di Settembre mi fanno provare ancora quel sentimento...

Mediaset e Sky si rimettono insieme?
Stipulano un tacito accordo di non belligeranza per il quale si spartiranno il satellite l'una ed il digitale terrestre l'altra? Offerta maxi per il satellite ed offerta mini per il DTT? E poi alla conquista dell'IPTV e di Internet insieme?
